Overview
This project was a commissioned assignment from the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. I was responsible for designing a student enrollment brochure that reflects both the academic prestige and spiritual values of the institution. The brochure was developed as a clear and comprehensive information medium for prospective students, covering the faculty profile, study programs, and campus facilities.
Challenge
The main challenge was managing a high volume of content, including information on four study programs, the faculty’s vision and mission, and admission requirements, without overwhelming the reader. The design also needed to express a modern and professional Islamic identity that would resonate with younger audiences. Additionally, the tri-fold format required a logical and seamless information flow, whether the brochure was viewed folded or fully opened.
Solution
I applied a structured grid and typographic system to break dense text into scannable sections, supported by clear visual hierarchy for easy navigation. Islamic geometric elements, such as the eight-pointed star, were subtly integrated as decorative and framing components to reinforce institutional identity without feeling traditional or dated. The color palette combined the institution’s signature green with gold accents to convey growth, wisdom, and academic excellence. The front cover was designed with a cleaner, more breathable layout, focusing on the institutional logo and representative student imagery to create a welcoming and credible first impression.
Results
The final brochure successfully condensed complex faculty information into a well-organized tri-fold A4 format that is easy to read and visually balanced. The client responded positively to the clarity and professionalism of the design, noting an improvement in the faculty’s public-facing materials. The artwork was fully optimized for print production, ensuring consistent color reproduction and sharp geometric details in large-scale printing.
