Overview
Unlike my previous grunge or street-inspired work, the “15K Heritage City Run” poster was designed for a more corporate and institutional audience. Many Envato Elements clients in this space are city governments or major sponsors who require sports event designs that feel clean, structured, and trustworthy, while still conveying energy. The goal was to create a template that communicates professionalism without losing a sense of motion and freshness.
Challenge
The key challenge was avoiding a stiff or monotonous look often associated with corporate sports posters. The layout needed to remain orderly and brand-safe, while still feeling dynamic and fast. At the same time, the design had to accommodate sponsor logos, legal text, and event information with clear hierarchy, as these elements are critical for institutional clients.
Solution
I developed a “Geometric Velocity” concept built around bold lines, clear structure, and fresh color contrasts. A Cyan Blue palette was chosen to represent trust, professionalism, and open air, supported by Lime Green accents to inject energy without appearing aggressive. Strong diagonal elements guide the viewer’s eye from the event logo through the title and runner imagery, ending at the registration QR code. The “CITY RUN” title uses an ultra-bold, italic sans-serif typeface that overlaps the runner photo, creating depth and the impression of forward motion. A modern runner silhouette with signal-wave styling reinforces a sense of technology and precision, aligning with chip-timing and tracking based events.
Results
The template became a strong performer in the Corporate Sports Events category. Its clean and adaptable aesthetic made it suitable not only for marathons, but also for corporate fun runs and city health campaigns. Clients valued the clear visual hierarchy, especially the highly readable QR code and call-to-action areas, which supported registration conversion. The structured layout also made it easy for internal design teams to add multiple sponsor logos without compromising visual clarity.
