Overview
AKT London, a premium natural deodorant brand with roots in West End theatre, commissioned me to create performance-focused social media ads. The objective was customer acquisition, addressing two key motivations: ethical values (cruelty-free) and functional reliability (long-lasting protection).
Challenge
Natural deodorants often face skepticism around performance, while their visual language tends to feel repetitive and generic. The challenge was to maintain AKT’s bold, theatrical identity while proving that a natural product can be effective, premium, and easy to use.
Solution
I developed two contrasting concepts to A/B test emotional storytelling against rational persuasion, anchored by AKT’s signature theatrical orange for instant brand recognition. One concept uses a playful visual metaphor of a ballet performing bunny to dramatize the “Tested on Dancers, Not Animals” message and communicate cruelty-free values with humor. The second concept takes a direct problem solution approach, visually eliminating common deodorant pain points using the product’s own texture, supported by strong social proof to reinforce credibility.
Results
The campaign validated two effective conversion paths. The bold orange palette clearly differentiated AKT from competitors, the problem–solution creative drove strong click-through by addressing performance doubts head-on, and the brand-values ad generated high engagement, strengthening AKT’s theatrical personality without compromising its premium positioning.
